The Moshe Dayan Center's "TAU Workshop on Israel and the Middle East" (formerly hosted by the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Regional and International Studies) is an intensive 12-day academic workshop and travel program that focuses on the history of the Arab-Israeli Conflict and on contemporary issues related to Israel, the Palestinian territories and the broader Middle East.
The program features many of the most outstanding Israeli and Palestinian scholars from a number of institutions, who present and discuss scholarship on historical and current issues related to Israel and the Middle East. A select group of Middle East Studies lecturers from universities around the world take part in the program on an invitation-only basis.
In addition to participating in sessions led by top local scholars, participants have the opportunity to visit key cities and sites where important events in the modern history of the region took place. Participants come away from the program with a deepened understanding of different perspectives on the Arab-Israeli Conflict, with insights into contemporary issues related to Israel and the broader Middle East, and with personal connections to Israeli and Palestinian counterparts and to their fellow participants from around the world.
The TAU Annual Workshop on Israel and the Middle East is a unique project that is going into its eighth year. Participants have come from top U.S. universities such as Princeton University, MIT, and Harvard University, as well as from leading universities throughout the world such as Middle East Technical University (Turkey), the University of Sydney, La Sorbonne University, Sciences Po (France), the London School of Economics, the University of Brasilia, University of St. Andrews, Shanghai International Studies University and many more.
We are proud to have hosted almost 140 former participants with whom we stay in close contact and pursue joint academic activities. Aside from the educative experience, the workshop serves as an academic platform for scholars around the world to exchange views and pursue joint academic activities such as conferences, student exchanges, journal publications, and much more.
