The present book is a comprehensive analysis of the jihad concept of the Al-Qaeda strategist Abu Mus‘ab al-Suri. Understanding his jihad concept gives insight into the ideology, formation and structure of future jihadi cells in the West and the Muslim world. The analysis also describes how al-Suri tries to give a common umbrella to jihadis who are motivated by local, global, or diaspora agendas. The analysis is based mainly on Arabic sources such as al-Suri’s voluminous jihad encyclopaedia “Global Islamic Resistance Call”, the texts of the jihad ideologue Abdallah Azzam and other influential contemporary Islamists.
