Gideon Gera, PhD (Tel Aviv University, 1978). Principal Researcher Emeritus at the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies and a retired IDF colonel. He is the author of "An Islamic Republic of Algeria?" (1995), and "Libya under Qadhdhafi" (1983, in Hebrew).
