Bruce Maddy-Weitzman to JNS about the Algerian-Moroccan feud

Bruce Maddy-Weitzman was interviewed by the Jewish News Syndicate about Algeria’s decision to sever diplomatic ties with Morocco, and its connection to recent developments in Israel-Morocco relations: "Algeria and Morocco have been geopolitical and ideological rivals for more than a half-century."

"Last year’s quid pro quo in the Abraham Accords process — unilateral U.S. recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the contested Western Sahara territory in return for Morocco’s restoration of diplomatic relations with Israel — was highly upsetting to Algeria," Prof. Maddy-Weitzman added.
