Prof. Itamar Rabinovich was the first director of the Moshe Dayan Center. At Tel Aviv University he served in several positions including the University's Presidency. He was Israel's ambassador in Washington and is currently the President of the Israel Institute (Washington and Tel Aviv). He is the author, among other books, of Syria under the Ba'ath, The War for Lebanon, The Lingering Conflict, The View from Damascus, and the Yitzhak Rabin biography.
His fields of specialization include the contemporary history of the Middle East; Syrian and Lebanese history and politics; Arab-Israeli relations, and the international politics of the Middle East.
