We are pleased to feature in this issue of Bayan an article by Prof. Elie Rekhess of Northwestern University. Professor Rekhess, founder of the Konrad Adenauer Program for Jewish-Arab Cooperation, is one of the world’s leading experts in the study of Arab politics and society in Israel. His article “Between Alienated Elites and the Developing Middle Class” analyzes the latest developments, their impact on Arab society, and the trend toward radicalization vs. the trend toward integration. The next section, “Trends in the Arab Media and Social Networks in Israel,” was translated and edited by Manal Hreib and Netta Hazan. It presents a selection of articles in the media and from Facebook pages from September-November 2014.
